It doesn’t have to be this way. We can do better!
It seems so straight forward. Engineers and Contractors are teammates with the common goal of improving a property. It doesn’t matter if it’s a renovation, new build, or an addition, both parties are working towards the same end. So why is there so much friction? Why is there such animosity?
In this presentation we will explore the causes of conflict between the engineering and contracting sides, as well as examples of common mistakes made by both parties that increase the likelihood of a project turning sour. At the end of the presentation you will be able to better understand the other persons position and rational as well as make small changes to your own processes that will make for smoother interactions and a smoother project.
Nobody wants to leave a meeting upset, lose money on a project, or embarrass themselves in front of the client. When you establish common ground, and better understand the people you interact with daily, you are freer to focus on the bottom line.
About the Presenter:
Niss Feiner has been in the industry since January 2006 working as an estimator and project manager for Fine Air Mechanical Ltd. With this background on the construction end, Niss has been able to provide practical and effective solutions on the engineering side with Delta-T Designs since 2010.
A firm believer in ongoing education, and industry participation, Niss is a Certified (Engineering) Technician with the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists, and in October of 2019 was one of the first two designers in Canada to hold the Certified HVAC Designer designation as provided by ASHRAE and as of March 2020, Niss was also accepted to the instruction team for the Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Institute of Canada (HRAI) providing instruction on building load calculations and system design.
Niss is highly involved with ASHRAE at the local, and society level. He serves as a voting member of the Board of Governors for the Toronto Chapter of ASHRAE, as well as serves on the Society Historical Committee as a voting member and is a Provisional Corresponding Member of ASHRAE Technical Committee 2.2 (Plant and Animal Environment) and ASHRAE Technical Committee 5.10 (Kitchen Ventilation).
