Presentation Synopsis:

Building off last year's successful event, the Diversity in ASHRAE committee is bringing back a discussion on digital project delivery and building information modelling (BIM). Join us as we discuss industry trends from various perspectives, from the beginning of design to the end of construction. Two door prizes will be drawn.

What is BIM?

Building Information Modeling (BIM) is an intelligent 3D model-based process that gives architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) professionals the insight and tools to more efficiently plan, design, construct, and manage buildings and infrastructure.

Dan Wilm, P.Eng :

Dan is the Associate Director, Engineering Services for Facilities and Operations at the University of Alberta. Dan joined the University of Alberta five years ago in the Engineering and Technical Services group after spending 19years in the private sector. Dan is a University of Alberta Engineering Alumni and brings experience in industrial power systems, electrical equipment manufacturing and solar powered outdoor lighting applications.

Megan Brooks:

Megan Brooks is the Leader of Design Technology for the international design and engineering practice DIALOG. After spending nearly, a decade working on the production line for multi-disciplinary projects, Megan knows what truly drives change within the industry - the emerging technology that surrounds the built environment. With her diverse skillset and well-rounded understanding of BIM, she has collaborated on a wide variety of projects ranging from healthcare, residential, commercial, institutional, educational and more. She is the Event Director for the Edmonton BIM Community (eBIMc) and is also a member of the National Organization for Women in BIM.
