October President's Message

We kicked off the year with a great tour of the new CHP plant at the north expansion of Chinook Mall and used the restaurant below as a hub for the evening. Initial comments were that the tour and venue were well received by all and the sound of conversation throughout the night would certainly back that up. We sold 76 tickets for the event, which is one of our largest turnouts in recent years, so thank you to those who came out to show support for your local Chapter.

We hope to continue the trend for the remainder of the year with our 60th anniversary being celebrated at Telus Spark on October 19th, followed by a visit from one of Society’s Distinguished Lecturers in November before we break for the year.

Our 60th Anniversary wouldn’t have happened without the sponsorship we have received, so although there will be displays on the night and announcements, I would also like to extend the thanks here for those that have sponsored this event. I would also like to thank in advance Society Past President, Tim Wentz for making the trip out here to meet with the Chapter, its sponsors and our YEA group and also Russell Lavitt, our Region XI Members Council Representative.

If you have any comments or suggestions regarding our meetings or events, then please get in touch and your board will listen.

I’m looking forward to seeing you all throughout the year and am confident it will be a strong year given the board we have running this year.

Many thanks,

Matt Parkes
